Laingsburg 8th Grade farewell dance

On May 20, 2016 LMS had a farewell dance for all the 8th graders moving on up to the High School. People danced and hung out with friends. One of the 8th graders made a speech. There was food such as a GIANT cake, cookies, and pizza! There was a raffle drawing to win stuff. Some parents helped by volunteering. Most girls wore dresses. It was a lot of fun hanging out with friends and seeing people have fun with others. It was a night to remember!

The Glaad awards held their 27th awards on April 2nd in Los Angeles, and they honor media for the fair accurate and inclusive representations for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. It’s pretty important to a lot of people.

Laingsburg Middle School had a talent show on April 29th. Singers, dancers, and other talents in the grades of 6th to 8th tried out at the auditions that were held on April 14th.  Thirteen groups participated in the talent show, but eighteen people in all performed. Autumn Eyre, was the mistress of  ceremonies that did very well with her jokes, and got the crowd laughing. Five groups danced, using many different styles of dance such as Lyrical, Acro, Jazz Acro, and Jazz. Backstage the dancers had a ritual that Emma Heyd and Gabby Paquet taught them to get more excited before they danced. There were six singers, and two people played an instrument. The students that weren't in the talent show watched in the bleachers of the gym, clapping and cheering them on. For two of the singers, the audience took out their phones, turned on the flashlights, then waved them around for support. The crowd enjoyed all of the talents.

This is Prince Rogers Nelson also known as Prince. He is one of the best American singers to ever live. He died at the age of 54 on April 21. He died unexpectedly in an elevator in Minnesota. In his home state Minnesota, people danced to the wonderful music he had made and sang. Prince’s music was so popular that it appeared at dances, weddings, and proms. He will be greatly missed.

The Laingsburg Middle School had a track meet on April 21, in Fulton and got 2nd overall in the meet. My 4x2 relay got 2nd. In 300m hurdles I got 3rd. For pole vaulting me and my friend Shaily got last. Here are some pictures of me pole vaulting.By: Saige Wurm
